The festive season officially kicks off on the first of December and chances are the Christmas party invitations have started rolling in, along with the celebratory BBQ’s or dinners at your friend’s places.
This season swap the dull bottle of wine or bubbles with something a little more exciting and refreshing. Introducing Solerno the world’s first Blood Orange Liqueur. This unique drink is the brainchild of Lesley Gracie, Master Distiller of Hendrick’s Gin, and blends the zesty fragrant essential oils of Sicily’s Blood Oranges and marries them together with lemon and orange to create a bright and refined spirit.
On the nose this vibrant liqueur bursts with refreshing blood orange, orange blossom and a hint of zesty lemon. This refreshing drink pairs perfectly with a cheese plate and Italian delights such as prosciutto. Whether you choose to drink Solerno on ice, create the signature cocktail the Solerno Serata, or incorporate it into one of your favourite cocktails, this bitter-sweet liqueur is destined to be a hit this summer with those who enjoy the regular cocktail or festive treat.
Here are a few of my favourite Solero Cocktails for the festive season:
2 dashes of orange bitters
30ml pink grapefruit juice
Topped with 60ml of sparkling water
Build in a stemless wine glass filled with ice, stir well and garnish with a blood orange slice and sprig of rosemary.
Solerno Prosecco Cocktail
10ml sugar syrup
2 dashes peach bitters
Top with Champagne or Prosecco
Build in a flute, and garnish with a thin blood orange twist or wedge.
Fresh Sicilian Shared Served
4 limes quartered and squeezed
Top with soda
Garnish with blood orange slices and mint leaves. Serve in a large mason jar.
