Skincare. As you may have noticed, I just can’t get enough of the stuff. I started by skincare routine at the age of 15 and have never given up on it. Today, almost 15 years on I’m incredibly happy with my skins appearance. Having said that, skincare is great, but regular facial treatments also help keep your skin in perfect shape. I was recently invited by Zecca Cosmedical to try out its Rejuvenation Quattro treatment which is designed to stimulate collagen production, improve skins texture and tone and leave you with a radiant complexion.
The 30-minute treatment consists of four mini-treatments including:
- Microhydrabrasion: Not to be confused with Microdermabrasion where the skin is blasted with exfoliating crystals – this treatment is much gentler. Zecca uses the Diamond Hydra Kit which drags a rough-surfaced ‘diamond’ tip – that has a vacuum cleaner built in – over the skin. The second phase involves another vacuum, this time, the suction head blasts water into the pores, which has a cooling and soothing effect on the skin. This process instantly smooths skin and brightens your complexion. A good exfoliation also allows skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin and improve their effectiveness.
- RevLite Facial: This treatment involves a laser. Lasers can be used to target a plethora of skin concerns including wrinkles, Rosacea, tattoo removal and hair removal to name a few. This laser in particular emits short pulses of light energy to rejuvenate the skin. This is probably the most uncomfortable part of this treatment – you hear and feel little electric zaps. I consider myself to have a low pain threshold, and I was ok with this part – I’ve used home hair removal products which have been more uncomfortable. During this step, your skin feels warm, but it doesn’t last very long at all. The purpose of this treatment is to boost collagen production.
- Mask: Depending on your skin concern/needs a treatment will be applied. In my case, it was a the Zecca Vitamin C treatment. Vitamin C has many known benefits to the skin and assists in collagen production, improves radiance and tone, improves hydration and keeps skin looking and feeling younger, longer.
- Omnilux: This is by far the most relaxing part of the treatment. For about 20 minutes you’re left under the Omnilux light – a super bright light which is lovely and warm. I must admit I almost nodded off a few times. The red light which I was treated with is designed to stimulate collagen and acts as a non-invasive anti-inflammatory agent. Omnilux also emits a blue light which assists with acne and healing tissue.
Once you’re done you may notice a little redness but it goes down in no time – mine lasted about an hour at most. I started to see changes in my skin after a few days, but it’s said you’ll usually see an overall difference in seven. My skin appeared smoother, radiant and I noticed an improvement in tone. This is an excellent treatment for when your skin needs a boost or ahead of an important event. Best of all there’s no downtime with this non-intrusive treatment.
