Dermalogica is a brand I’ve been using on and off for almost ten years. In my early twenties, I suffered from breakouts and a selection of products from the Dermalogica mediBac range made a difference to my skin. Now almost 30 years old, my skin concerns have changed. In winter, I tend to suffer from redness on my cheeks and dry skin. I recently had Dermalogica’s Facemapping done, and it was recommended I try the UltraCalming Serum Concentrate which is designed to treat, correct and defend skin against inflammation and redness.
Product name: Dermalogica UltraCalming Serum Concentrate
What it does: This super concentrated serum is designed to calm, restore and defend sensitised skin. It features Dermalogica’s UltraCalming Complex which includes ingredients such as red hogweed, oat kernel, ginger and bisabol as well as Portulaca Oleraca extract, Japanese lilyturf, evening primrose and avocado oils (to name a few). This formula helps interrupt inflammatory triggers to prevent flare-ups.
Results: This super-light serum works wonders. It’s absorbed quickly without leaving a sheen on the skin. I noticed the redness on my cheeks disappeared within minutes, and my skin-tone appeared more even. This serum has a beautiful natural smelling scent which makes it such a joy to use. During winter I tend to suffer from dry hands so I would also apply the serum to my hands every evening – it helped reduce redness and relieved itchy skin. Dermalogica has done it again creating a product that does what it says with almost immediate results. Best of all, Dermalogica products are formulated without artificial fragrances and colours and this product is no exception.
How to use: After cleansing, apply a generous amount to face, neck and chest with light, upward strokes. Use twice daily, morning and night.
Skin types: Suitable for sensitised, reactive and recently resurfaced skin.
