Since my early 20s, one of my greatest fears has been hair-loss, mainly because I don’t have a great shaped head, and the shaved look just wouldn’t suit me. For the last nine years, every hairdresser I’ve met I have asked the same question ‘do you think I’m going to lose my hair’? Most have replied no and others pointed out the process would have already started. My father lost his hair after the age of 30 – an age I’m fast approaching. Not willing to take my chances, I’ve always invested in great hair products and shampoos just to be sure. Aveda recently released its Invati Men range which is designed to improve the look of thinning hair. I decided to give it a try as a pre-emptive treatment and see if I noticed a difference.
Product Name: Invati Men Nourishing Exfoliating Shampoo & Scalp Revitalizer
What it does: Taking a two-pronged approached to hair loss, the Nourishing Exfoliating Shampoo exfoliates the scalp and conditions to help strengthen thinning hair. This lightweight, creamy shampoo is formulated with wintergreen-derived salicylic acid which helps to remove product build-up and excess sebum which can clog pores.
The leave-in Scalp Revitalizer treatment then thickens hair at the root and invigorates the scalp when massaged. Its quick-absorbing formula helps in increasing microcirculation with a potent blend of plant actives.
In consumer test results, 4 out of 5 men said their hair felt strong and looked thicker after four weeks of use.
Results: I couldn’t put the Nourishing Exfoliating Shampoo down! Within seconds, this shampoo dissolves any hair product while delivering a cooling effect to the scalp. Hair feels clean, soft and well-hydrated. When I read about this shampoo initially, I expected it to contain granules, but instead its smooth. I must admit when I first applied the Scalp Revitalizer I remember thinking ‘I’ve just wet my hair how am I going to style it!’ Once this treatment is massaged into the scalp, it absorbs fairly quickly. Much like the shampoo, it also has a nice cooling effect. As a gentleman who either blow-dries or straightens his hair daily, the Scalp Revitalizer made no difference to my styling routine – it was business as usual. After a day or so of using these products, I did find my hair appeared fuller, and this included when I used a straighter, which usually gives hair a finer appearance. One of the biggest improvements I noticed was that I had less hair breakage which is standard with heat styling. Overall with the results I saw I would recommend this duo to anyone battling with thinning hair.
How to use: First, shampoo using the Invati Men Nourishing Exfoliating Shampoo and then rinse. The second step is to apply the Scalp Revitalizer. Apply this product in a straight line from the front to back on centre, left and right sides of the scalp. Massage in and do not rinse.
Hair Types: Recommended for thinning hair
