We all know fragrance will make you smell great, but did you know it can also make you more attractive and appear more intelligent to employers? In a recent study conducted in the UK, findings suggested that applying a few sprays of your favourite scent can make you seem more attractive because of the positive effects it has on your self-confidence. With the summer heat well underway, I recommend choosing a scent with citrus and light woody notes that’s refreshing and energising. Here are a few of the scents I am loving this summer, that just might help you land that new job or your significant other.
Z Zegna Energy
As its name suggests, the latest fragrance by Ermenegildo Zegna bursts with energy with each spray. The fragrance opens with tantalising mandarin and lemon leaves, followed by notes of Lavender flower, Geranium, sandalwood, Ambergris and musk at its base. The result is a sporty masculine scent that is refreshing, refined and modern. Z Zegna Energy 100ml $110. Available now from Myer, David Jones, Sephora and selected pharmacies.
Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey Pour Homme Fraiche
A brand notorious for refreshing scents suited to summer would have to be Issey Miyake. The newest fragrance in the collection, Issey Miyake Pour Homme Fraiche carries on this tradition opening with top notes of vibrant grapefruit, followed by sage, lavender, white patchouli and vetiver at its base. The fragrance is ultra-masculine, refreshing and exudes a mineral freshness. Issey Miyake Pour Homme Fraiche 100ml $115. Available from February exclusively to Myer department stores.
Gucci Guilty Pour Homme
This fragrance has been part of my summer collection for some time now but still manages to impress me. Gucci Guilty opens with invigorating Italian lemon, mandarin, crushed green leaves and pink pepper, followed by orange flower, neroli, patchouli, sandalwood and cedar at its heart. This fragrance is refreshing and long lasting and well suited to any summer occasion. Gucci Guilty Pour Homme 100ml $113. Gucci Guilty for Him is available nationwide in department stores and specialty retailers.
David Beckham Aqua Classic
Whether you’re a David Beckham fan or not, his latest fragrance Aqua Classic kicks a few goals when it comes to creating a summer scent. The aromatic woody fragrance opens with notes of green violet leaves, cardamom and lemon, followed by sage, artemisia and geranium at its heart. The result is a fresh twist on a masculine classic. David Beckham Aqua Classic 60ml, $39. Available from Chemist Warehouse stores from February 2016, and Priceline and Independent Pharmacies from March 2016.
Dolce & Gabbana The One
Admittedly a spicy oriental fragrance wouldn’t be my first choice for summer; however, the clever use of top notes makes this fragrance incredibly versatile. The One for Men opens with refreshing citrus and green notes including grapefruit, coriander and basil, followed by orange blossom, tobacco and cedar at its base. This fragrance is sophisticated, elegant and charismatic and is best worn in the evenings during the summer months. Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men EDT 100ml $117.
