Review: Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot

Review: Ermengildo Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot

It may look like a lime, but bergamot is actually an inedible bitter orange grown predominantly in Calabria. The essence of this citrus fruit comes from its rind and has been used in perfume since the 16th century. The House of Ermenegildo Zegna harvests its own bergamot grown in Calabria, which is the star ingredient in its Italian Bergamot fragrance, which is part of the exclusive Essenze collection.

Fragrance Name: Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze: Italian Bergamot

Fragrance Notes: Bergamot, Neroli, Rosemary and Vetiver

Described as: Elegant and understated. The fragrance combines bright and subtle citrus notes with fragrant herbs to create a classic masculine scent.

Wear It: This fragrance is always appropriate according to Zegna, and I agree. A refreshing scent which is perfect for the warmer months. Italian Bergamot is one of my go-to scents for summer wherever I am in the world.

Price: 125ml RRP $295. Italian Bergamot is now also available in a travel-friendly size of 75ml, RRP $225. Sicilian Mandarin, Javanese Patchouli, Indonesian Oud, Florentine Iris and Haitian Vetiver are also available in 75ml editions from 31 January 2016 from David Jones department stores and Ermenegildo Zegna boutiques.

The Verdict: A classic masculine scent that is versatile and sophisticated. I always get compliments when I wear this scent and best of all its long wearing, much like the other fragrances in this collection.
