I’m heading on a road trip this weekend and one of the biggest challenges I face when travelling is choosing the products to take with me. I like to think up different scenarios as to when I may need a particular item such as ‘what if I wake up with puffy eyes’ or ‘if we go to the beach, I should pack conditioner’. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel regularly and have picked up a few tricks when it comes to packing for a weekend away or an overseas holiday.
Here are the beauty items I’m packing for a weekend away.
Molton Brown 4-in-1 Sportswash
Designed for the man on the go, this sportswash is four products in one. Use it on the body, face, hair and for shaving, it’s the ultimate all-in-one performance product. Blended with cassia bark to deodorise the body, skin conditioners to moisturise the face, an Ultra-shine complex for hair and guar gum to soften stubble for a closer shave, this product grooms from top to toe. The fragrance was inspired by Vietnam and features notes of cassia bark, nutmeg and lime to refresh and deodorise the skin. RRP $32 available from Molton Brown stores and David Jones department stores.
Sunsense Moisturising Face SPF 50+
Small enough to fit in your handbag or backpack, this portable hero is your best defence for unplanned sun exposure for the face and neck. This moisturising, oil-free sunscreen maintains the skins healthy look without leaving a greasy residue. It has very high SPF 50+ UVA and UVB broad spectrum protection, which defends the skin from premature ageing and skin cancer. This product is non-comedogenic so it won’t clog the pores and is fragrance, BABA and lanoline free. Now all you have to worry about is reapplying every few hours. RRP $13.95 available exclusively in pharmacies and Priceline stores nationally.
Trilogy Everything Balm
The miracle balm that does almost everything. Said to be skincare’s answer to the Swiss army knife, this little beauty combines botanicals renowned for their antiseptic and healing properties. Featuring pawpaw, Echinacea and coconut oil, this product can be used as a lip balm, heel balm, hand cream, melting massage oil, nappy cream, all over face and body moisturiser, and assists in healing chapped or grazed skin, itchy bites and minor hurts of all sorts. This product is one you can’t be caught without on any trip. RRP $18.95 available from selected Priceline, Myer, pharmacy and health stores.
Aramis 24-hour Antiperspirant Deodorant
Who knows what you’re going to get up to on your next trip, but one thing for certain, you don’t want to be left with body odour. This powerful 24-hour high-performance deodorant has you covered no matter what you get up to. Formulated for all skin types, its fragrance-free formula glides on for the ultimate wetness and odour protection. Best of all it won’t flake or transfer onto clothes, and leaves you smelling your best all day long no matter what the day throws at you. RRP $43 available from Myer & David Jones department stores.
Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer
Late nights? Why not you’re on holiday! What you don’t want to be left with are dark circles or puffiness. This conveniently packaged eye cream is designed to minimise dark circles and puffiness with two key ingredients caffeine and Arctic Root. It glides easily along the skin and instantly cools and soothes while reviving tired eyes. RRP $30 available from Kiehl’s online, boutique stores and Myer and David Jones department stores.
Ermenegildo Zegna – Mediterranean Neroli
As most of you may know, I love my fragrances. Ideally I would like to have a day and night option, but I don’t go on holiday without purchase a new scent. When I have to narrow it down to one fragrance, I tend to choose a scent that is suitable for all occasions such as Ermenegildo Zegna – Meditteranean Neroli. Part of the luxurious Essenze Collection, this fragrance features notes of bergamot, spearmint, neroli, jasmine and sandalwood at its base and is both masculine and refreshing. RRP $250 available exclusively to David Jones stores and Ermenegildo Zegna boutiques.
LAB SERIES Skincare for Men Future Rescue Repair Serum
Rather than taking a series of products to treat specific concerns, I take one serum that multi-tasks. This product defends the skin with a cocktail of antioxidants, exfoliates dead surface cells, safeguards the skins protective barrier stopping future damage and repairs past damage while supporting collagen production. RRP $95 available from selected Myer and David Jones stores, along with Sephora and selected pharmacies.
Handsome Men’s Skincare – Facial Moisturiser
If you don’t have space for a day and night moisturiser, choose one that’s going to keep your skin nourished while targeting specific concerns – in my case ageing. Handsome Men’s Skincare Facial Moisturiser is formulated using organic avocado, hempseed, sandalwood, along with anti ageing Ribose, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E. For anyone who isn’t familiar with the ingredient Ribose, it’s a sugar that occurs naturally in all living cells and skincare is used to oxygenise skin, reduce wrinkles, increase elasticity and enhance the complexion. RRP $55 available from Handsome Men’s Skincare website.
YSL Touche Eclat – Radiant Touch
One of my personal beauty secrets that I can’t be caught without. With a few clicks of this pen and a few strategic strokes, you can capture the effect of 8-hours sleep. This product can be used to target dark circles, fine lines and signs of fatigue. You’ll never know when you need it, but it’s perfect for quick touch-ups anytime. RRP $59 available from selected Myer and David Jones department stores.
evo Box ‘O’ Bollox
One hair product that suits my daily hairstyle. Evo’s Box ‘O’ Bollox is a texturizing paste that provides a strong hold (even for my thick hair) with a matte finish. One of my favourite things about this product is when my hair is short I can mess it up with this texturizing paste, and once it gets long I can show off my slicked back look (think Don Draper). Box ‘O’ Bollox is suitable for all hair types especially gents with shorter hair. RRP $32.95 available from evo hair online and leading salons.
